Privacy Policy

Last updated October 6, 2026

This policy explains what information RepSearch collects, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We keep it as simple as we can.

1. What we collect

If you make an account:

• Your email address and password (your password is encrypted, and we can't read it)

• Sources you save, plus any notes or quotes you save with them

• Your school library's name and link, if you add them

• The text of any papers you upload. We delete the PDF file right after reading it. The text is private to you, is only used to answer your own questions, and is deleted when you remove the paper.

• A history of the topics you search, so you can find them again. Only you can see it, and you can clear it any time in My account.

• The AI answers you get, so you can reopen them from My account. Only you can see them.

When you use the site, with or without an account:

• The topics you search and the questions you ask the AI

• How many AI answers and Deep research runs you've used, and when

• Your IP address, which we use to apply limits for visitors without an account

2. How we use it

We use your information to:

• Run your searches and answer your questions

• Save your evidence and settings

• Apply daily and weekly limits

• Keep the site secure and fix problems

• Understand how the site is used so we can improve it

We do not sell your information, and we do not show ads.

3. Who helps us run RepSearch

We share only what's needed with services that help run the site:

• Supabase stores accounts and saved evidence

• WeWeb hosts the website

• Anthropic's AI reads your question and source summaries to write answers. Your question is sent to them, but not your email

• Research databases like OpenAlex, PubMed, ERIC and arXiv receive the words you search so they can return results

These services may only use your information to provide their service to us.

4. Cookies and storage

We use your browser's storage to keep you signed in and remember settings like your citation style. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies.

5. Students under 18

RepSearch is for people 13 and older. If you're under 18, please use RepSearch with a parent's or guardian's permission. We don't knowingly collect information from children under 13. If we learn that we have, we will delete it. Parents can contact us at support@userepsearch.com.

6. How long we keep it

We keep your account information until you delete your account. We keep search and AI usage records only as long as we need them to run limits, keep the site secure and improve it.

7. Your choices

You can:

• Remove saved sources at any time from My evidence

• Change or remove your library link in My account

• Remove an uploaded paper at any time (tap the × next to it), which permanently deletes its text

• Delete your account and all your data yourself at any time (My account → Delete my account). This is permanent and happens right away. You can also email support@userepsearch.com to ask for a copy of your information or for us to delete it for you.

8. Security

We use encrypted connections and access rules so only you can see your account and saved evidence. No system is perfect, so please use a password you don't use anywhere else.

9. Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update it here and change the date at the top. If it's a big change, we'll let account holders know.
